WALLEYES FOR WARRIORS RETURNS IN 2022!
We are proud to say 2022 will be our tenth event! Both the 2020 and the 2021 events were cancelled due to Covid-19. We are really looking forward to putting this event together after the past two years. The Bay City Elks Lodge #88 and Walleyes for Warriors are dedicated to continuing this event.
This event exists to thank our veterans for all they have done for our country and provide them with a special day of recreational fishing on Saginaw Bay to show our appreciation. We truly cannot put on this event without your support.
This year's event will be at Linwood Beach Marina, 135 S. Linwood Beach Road, Linwood, Michigan.
The dates are June 11th and 12th. If you have attended in the past, you know how meaningful this event is to our veterans. In 2019 we had 120 boat captains and 221 veterans who participated. We caught 1,683 walleyes! We were pleased to have three World War II veterans who fished. Their ages were 91, 92, and 95.
This event is provided entirely by donations and volunteers. Countless hours of planning and work by volunteers, donations of money and the generosity of captains, who donate their fishing boats, gas and time, are what makes this event a success.
Bay City Elks Lodge #88 coordinates and sponsors the event. As you may be aware, our founder, Nels Larsen, passed away October 8, 2020. The Elks are working diligently to ensure the legacy Nels founded continues.
Our mission is simply to provide a weekend event of fishing and fellowship to our veterans. THANK YOU for your involvement. We hope to hear from you soon. As we say in the Elks, so long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will NEVER forget them.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
